About

Hi, I’m Kimberly Smith. I’m a pastor, speaker and author of the book “What We Cannot Be Alone | Understanding Singleness in God’s Family”.

I am living an unexpected version of my life and I’m committed to living it to the full. I am blessed to do the work I do. Ministry opportunities (and leisure pursuits) see me travelling across the state, Australia and overseas. My life truly has become my (God’s) message and I love sharing it with people of all ages and life stages.

I’m bold enough to believe that things can always be better! There is always more to learn, more to understand, more to give, and a fuller life to live. I speak regularly around the topics of Leadership, Sexuality, Relationship & Identity, and Singleness – as well as preaching as part of our team in regular church services.

PASTOR –

Kimberly is currently the Generations and Emerging Leaders Pastor for the Baptist Churches of Victoria, Australia. Drawing on 15 years experience as a Generations pastor, her role is to support kids, families, youth and young adult pastors and leaders in their roles with mentoring, training and connection to the broad network of churches. She also seeks to help churches and their senior leadership think, act and grow generationally.

Kimberly is passionate about leadership and team development. She is a State Coordinator within the Arrow Leadership Emerging Leaders program – encouraging leaders in church and para church organisations to explore and develop their leadership potential. She presents the “Leading Teams” module.

SPEAKER –

Kimberly is a passionate and gifted communicator. Her wisdom and insight together with her humour and vibrant personality are utilised in her preaching ministry in her home church and at churches, events and generational ministries across Victoria and beyond. As well as speaking effectively from the platform to any size group she is also a gifted facilitator of workshops or training.

She is regularly invited to speak on the topics of Relationship, Sexuality and Identity as she desires to see the church find its voice on these subjects that are near to the heart of God for His children. Years of journeying with young people and her own personal life experiences have equipped her with language and passion to encourage people to pursue God’s best design and desire in these areas.

Her extensive experience in Leadership Development and Team Leadership also equip her to speak to these topics and support organisations wishing to grow in this area.

More recently, she has been sharing on the topic of Singleness in God’s Family – a journey that has also been encapsulated in her first book.

AUTHOR –

Kimberly has recently published her first book “WHAT WE CANNOT BE ALONE | Understanding Singleness in God’s Family”. She writes …

For many years I have resisted writing this book because I have never wanted to be a ‘spokesperson’ for singleness. I didn’t want to camp here in this season and make it my ‘life’s message’. This is a season I want to transition through … beyond! But something about my life experiences, my ministry gifts and passions, and my current life circumstances have combined with God’s calling to steward this message in a way I can’t deny.
God has something to say to His people on this subject. Maybe it’s a message of affirmation, validation and encouragement for Singles. Maybe it’s a word of correction or direction for church leadership. Maybe it’s a nudge to greater awareness for His broader church family. I’m sure it could be those thoughts and more.

  2. Hi Kimberley, recently I watched a couple of videos on ymi. today ( part of Our Daily Bread ) where you spoke about your book and the topic of singleness. I was struck by how much wisdom you seemed to display. As a single man, I think I could benefit from reading your book. Where can I get a copy? Do they have it at Koorong? God bless.

  5. Kimberley, I just heard you speak on Rhema FM about your book. I was single for the first 38 years of my life and resonated with the points you made so eloquently. I don’t think I’ve heard a more intelligent, balanced and positive exposition of this issue. Thank you!

  6. Sorry Kim I heard you on the radio and I do not agree with your “ministry” as a preacher:1 Tim 2 11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women[c] will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
1 Corinthians 14:34New International Version (NIV)

34 Women[a] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.

    1 Corinthians 11
11 1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

2 I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. 3 But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man,[a] and the head of Christ is God.

Please be a good example and cease your pastorship and preaching. It is because of women like you that I am thinking modern Christianity is a hoax.

    1. Wake up Rebecca who on earth are you to talk?

Maybe it is people like you not Kim that are destroying the church.. besides I’m sure you’ll never contribute as much to the church as she has.

Did you also know Rebecca the Bible says for women to cover their heads in church, that female rape victims should be forced to marry the rapist, that women will be saved through childbearing, the husband is the head of the wife, young boys must be circumcised on the 8th day, people can be seriously punished for eating pork, not segregating themselves after menstrual bleeding and the list goes on.

The point is don’t use your backward cultural ideas to judge Kim who is with the times and in conformity with 21st century Christianity.

You are backwards, divisive person that needs to stop sowing negative seeds.

Since you wanted to quote from 1 Corinthians 14 I’ll quote from that as well. “Let all things be done decently and in order”. It also says “what I write to you is the command of God.. whoever does not regard my words should not be regarded.” Therefore, cease your disorderly backwards behaviour or you will not be regarded.

I’ve never been to her church but I love her website and also heard her on the radio and she is a good speaker/ teacher. Keep it up Kim and don’t worry about critics like Rebecca.

  7. I feel very similarly – I never expected to be a spokesperson for divorce but increasingly hear God’s call on my life to do so – and to such effect am writing my first book. I am definitely going to check yours out!
